Dirt Road Dust Control
Stop dust on gravel dirt roads - dust-free dirt roads now available in North Texas!
If you’re tired of the dust cloud behind your clean vehicle, there is a product for reducing the dust on your rural driveway, long dirt road, HOA roads, or farm and ranch roads that you’ll be interested in.
Although dust is an ongoing issue for gravel roads, we can reduce the amount of dust with a spray from our distributor (shown below) that can limit the amount of dust blown around. This is a maintenance process that can be done anytime dust becomes a burden again. It does work better on some materials over others and wears in over time, but there is a dust reduction in every instance.

Using a specialized trailer, we apply a coat to the top that locks the dust in.
We use this in areas that have horses, other livestock, or humans who are being overwhelmed by the dust. Here is a photo that illustrates a before and after of dust-control spray applied to a gravel road (although we have spray bars that are much wider than this photo). It coats the top layer of rocks and greatly reduces dust for a period of time:

Psst... Consider paving with a less dusty topcoat...
Another thing to consider is paving a top layer of recycled asphalt on top of gravel. Recycled asphalt has very little dust as far as a material goes, and can also be sprayed to encourage it to lock in and tighten up. Ask us more about RAP if you're interested, because it is a very good product for paving in Texas. Folks with dusty roads should also consider hot mix asphalt as a way to give a more permanent, dust-free top layer!
