Paving Cost Breakdown
Estimating a paving job, although simple in theory, is best done by a professional, and in person.
There are a few key reasons for this:
• It's hard to imagine all the components that may be involved without a visual inspection.
• The amount of material needed is hard to estimate over the phone.
We'd love to see the property, but we can give you an idea of what to expect over the phone.
Official estimates are sent electronically via email and have an automated approval process only after we've seen the job in person (material delivery only is available anytime).

What's the upside to an in-person free paving estimate?
The accuracy of the quote is improved significantly. This way, the price doesn't vary once the job is inspected. If a quote is made over the phone for any complete paving job and it turns out the quote is wrong, everyone gets put in an awkward position. That's something we don't like about the paving industry, so we avoid quoting one thing and delivering another.
Avoid walking prices:
At Country Roads, we identify everything going on at the job site ahead of time because we don't like surprises any more than you do. It's the principle of it. We'll brainstorm everything with you think would be in the scope of work and price it as one job, or many depending on how things will be handled. Changing a bid after the fact is something that we don't agree with so we'll get on the same page first. Sure, you may want to add a parking spot or build a berm or something after the fact, but you want those things to be optional, not sprung on you. We do too.

New Driveway Paving
We quote jobs based on what is needed to prep the area, deliver materials, pave the driveway, and compact it along the way.
It's one stop. And it's largely based on square footage. The problem with quotiing online is the need for underlying conditions to be able to support the new driveway to our standards. If we see it first, we know what is needed to hit that metric.
We'll discuss the best options for your job together, but this will help. The cost of paving will go in this order (highest to lowest investment):
• Decorative Concrete (not our specialty).
• Concrete
• Hot Mix Asphalt
• Chip Seal
• Crushed Asphalt
• Crushed Granite
• Chip Stone / Gravel
• Road Base
These can be put over existing materials in most cases.

Driveway, Parking Lot, Road Repair & Commercial Paving
The problem with any Texas driveway, road or parking lot is that they take a beating from the elements, especially considering the soil conditions here. The damage varies significantly. A driveway where cracks appear is a different paving job than one where cars are bottoming out.
We just need to walk it simply because no two jobs are exactly alike. For things like this, our office can give you an idea of the costs associated with a job right over the phone. This comes in handy for contractors or property owners interested in knowing what they can expect from a future paving project. Give us a call on it, we don't mind!
If you're having trouble with the driveway, that doesn't mean it's a lost cause. It may just need extra material, a top coat of some sort, or a bit of TLC on our end. We have some great ideas that we'll share, we'll be there for you regardless of the amount of work that needs to be done.
Avoiding much needed repairs:
Putting off a paving repair can create an interesting, and possibly very expensive situation. This isn't a scare tactic. But, if you're still reading this you'll recognize that at some point, road surfaces can only get so bad before they have to be completely removed and new ones put in their place. The problem is, you probably don't need to start from scratch, but you eventually will.
It's a lot like a car. If you've ever had an aging car, you'll know first hand that at some point, repairs to keep it running begin can exceed what a newer car would cost when all things are considered.
This is really what you want to avoid. The cost of picking up the damaged material, hauling and disposing the old driveway, setting a new solid base, and repaving can be more costly than just taking care of things as they develop. Chances are, even if you have a driveway that is showing significant damage, we can still repair it without going through all the headache and cost of starting from scratch.
Most hot mix blacktop driveways and rural gravel roads can be repaired inexpensively.

Maintenance of Country Roads, Long Driveways & Parking Lots
What you can do with very long driveways, private roads, & parking lots is get them on a regular schedule of maintenance. You pay a little bit here and there, but avoid the bigger spends later. Things like regular grading, adding material when needed, fixing drainage issues, repairing potholes, etc. are all available on a regular schedule for next to nothing compared to bigger fixes later. Texans prefer to wait until nobody but trucks can access the property before addressing it. I guess that's alright, but the customers we have on maintenance programs smile all the way to the bank!
